Hair Transplant

One of the most common cosmetic procedures sought by men at our centre, the results of hair transplant are very good, predictable and consistent. This surgical technique removes hair follicles from one part of the body, called the 'donor site', and transplants it to a bald or balding part of the body known as the 'recipient site'. The technique is primarily used to treat male pattern baldness.

Candidacy

  • Men with male pattern baldness usually after hair loss has stopped
  • Those with early hair loss
  • Those with significant hair loss
  • Also used to restore: eyelashes, eyebrows, beard hair, chest hair, and pubic hair and to fill in scars caused by accidents or other facial or scalp surgery.

Procedure

One of two techniques is performed.

In this technique, individual hair follicles (FU) are harvested from the back of the head (donor site) in a staggered fashion so as to leave no tell-tale mark of hair grafts taken. These are planted into the bald or balding parts (recipient site) as per the plan. The key to a great result is choosing grafts (donor area) containing hair follicles that are genetically resistant to balding. These are transplanted to the bald area of the scalp. As for donor hair, alternative donor sites are beard and chest hair.

In this traditional technique, a strip of hair-bearing skin is harvested from the back of the head (donor site) and this donor area is closed with sutures. With skilled hands, this scar is barely visible after a few months in most cases. Individual follicular units are separated from this strip and planted into the bald or balding parts (recipient site) as per the plan.

  • Baggy eyelid correction
  • Double chin correction (Liposuction for the chin)
  • Liposuction for the arms
  • Nose Reshaping

Both these procedures are comfortably done under local anaesthesia.

Anaesthesia: It can be performed under Local Anesthesia

Duration of procedure: It takes about 4-8 hours for the procedure.

Inpatient/Outpatient Procedure

It is usually an outpatient procedure, that is, the patient can go home the same day.

  • Resuming normal work can take 2-5 days
  • The final results will be seen after 3-6 months
  • Any strenuous activities or consumption of alcohol can be done after about 3 weeks
  • The bruising and swelling will take a few weeks to reduce and get back to normal
